If diets worked, everyone would be slim today. Diets can't work at all and that's why most people weigh even more after a diet than before ("yo-yo effect"). To understand the reason for this, we need to look back a few thousand years in history.
For our brain, losing weight means starving. If our ancestors a few thousand years ago couldn't eat enough and lost weight, it was life-threatening for them. That's why our brain does everything it can to prevent us from losing weight. Let us explain how.
When you start a diet, you eat less and consume fewer calories. You will probably be able to lose weight in the first few weeks.
At some point, however, the brain classifies the weight loss as life-threatening. The brain has several ways of forcing you to take in more calories and burn fewer calories:
1. you feel hungrier so you eat more and take in more calories
2. you have no more energy, so you move less and burn fewer calories
3. you feel cold because your body produces less heat to burn fewer calories
The longer you stay on a diet, the harder your brain fights against it. At some point, you get such cravings that you simply can't resist them any longer. Then your brain tries to reabsorb all the lost calories from the last few weeks.
This means that you will have cravings until you have regained your old weight. In most cases, you will continue to have cravings even after that, because your brain prefers to store additional fat deposits in order to have enough energy for the next hunger period. We call this the "yo-yo effect".
This mechanism was essential for our ancestors to survive. Nowadays, however, it unfortunately makes traditional weight loss impossible.
To successfully lose weight and maintain your dream weight in the long term, you need to change your lifestyle habits - for the rest of your life.
It's important that you listen to your body's signs. You should always eat when you feel hungry. You should also eat enough to fill you up. We recommend that you eat 5-6 small meals a day. If you eat few and large meals, you will be overwhelmed by cravings.
When you adopt new eating habits, you have to enjoy them. Otherwise, you will fall back into old habits after a few days.
You should also exercise regularly. When wearing our Resistance Band leggings, your legs have to fight against resistance during everyday movements, which makes every movement more strenuous. It is perfectly sufficient to wear your Resistance Band leggings in everyday life, for example when doing the housework or shopping.
However, to achieve even better results, you can meet up with a friend once or twice a week and go for a walk together. Find a nice environment and enjoy an exciting conversation - while you burn significantly more calories and do something good for your health.
You can also go on bike tours to special places that you would like to see. The important thing is that you do this regularly and have fun doing it.
If you don't have fun, you'll stop at some point. If you don't exercise regularly, you'll fall back into old habits and regain your old weight.
Losing weight requires a lot of patience. When losing weight, it is important that you build healthy habits into your life that you enjoy doing for the rest of your life. But it's also important that you have fun doing it. Otherwise you will give up after a few weeks.
